100 down(er)

I was hoping for something a little better than this, being this is my 100th post (cue the party favors) since I came over to Movable Type. I would have been more in tune to thinking something up if I hadnt been sick all week. Yes yes, I fell victim to the flu thats been going around here as of late.

My Dads been sick 3 times so far, and Id managed to not catch what he had twice before... but as they say, 3rd times a charm.

Been fighting it off all week, trying to get some rest and taking plenty of microwaved lemonade to get me through it.

So here it is, minus the balloons, party favors and strippers... my 100th post, woohoo... wooh... wo... ahh, I need a nap.

The forgotten photoseries

For anyone who follows this journal at all... Ive been mentioning on a sporatic basis my ongoing (and sometimes seemingly neverending) redesign of this site. Just a move to a simpler, cleaner, non-framset kinda thing. Im sick of this frameset the more I look at it. It seemed a good idea at the time... but its just grown more and more unfavorable as the months and months pass.

But as anyone who knows me would know, I can never seem to just redesign... I have to experiment and start new designs almost weekly. The current version of this site was actually the 14th concept I put together. I was seemingly on that same path, having done 4 for the new site already... tilll I just started decided to stop and work on one and one alone. Ive been doing that, but its still taking me a little bit to get somewhere I want. I want to go simple and clean, but my brain keeps letting my design style take over for brief periods... and I start making loud changes.

What this is getting to is, in my new design I wanted to put a spot where I could highlight photos here and there... much like my bud Dan Merk has done on his site. Ive actually been taking the pics here and there (just as planned)... just havent had anywhere to highlight them, since Im too lazy to change my current design.

So instead of letting these pics go to waste, just sitting around with nothing to do... I decided to make the growing collection my newest photoseries. No theme... just a collection of images I planned to show on occasion that I never did, till now.

Reptilian kinda-anniversary

Usually, after lunch every Tuesday I stop by Best Buy to pick up the latest DVD releases. Its usually a lock every Tuesday that I'll walk back into the office after lunch with a new DVD... although there are weeks that nothing comes out that I want. This week was just as the usual ones... come walking back into the office with a DVD.

This week its the newly released Special Edition of Escape from New York.

Buying this DVD brought me back to a day long long ago... back when I was a little thinner, a little shorter, with more hair (hehe) and lived with my parents cause I was too young to live on my own. It brought me back because Escape from New York was the first (or the first that I still remember) R-rated movie I was actually allowed to watch.

I dont remember what the occasion was, or if there was in fact an occasion at all... but I do remember my Dad calling me downstairs to watch it. This was a time even before I had a TV in my room, Im thinking a few years before my teens. It wasnt a toned down, washed out TV version of the movie either... it was a regular gritty version. I dont remember what channel it was on (maybe HBO?)... and even though its actually kinda tame by todays movie standards, it was a big deal when I was that age; especially since I was allowed to watch it.

I remember liking the movie, and its really the only time Ive ever seen it. I havent seen it since on network TV, or on HBO... not HBO mainly cause when he had and didnt have HBO always flucuated. I remember bits and pieces of the movie... definitely enough from likeing it that sparked me to buy it today.

Just one of them little moments of dejavu... driving back to the office with this DVD, remembering the only day I saw it back when I was just a small boy; although still with a mighty hefty cranium.

Uh... kinda... thoughts in random order

For the past couple days, Id been planning on doing a "thoughts in random order" to do what I always do with those, highlight things that have happened lately that I didnt cover with their own post. Its my solution to being a lazy bastard and not posting as often as I should.

The only thing is that, as I sat down here to write it, I forgot more than two things I wanted to say. Goddamnit. I could swear there was a couple different things I was gonna say... but most of them just flew away apparently.

Here go the two that I actually remembered though:

1. My best friend John came homke from California for the holidays. A group of us went out the day he came back, this past Friday, to celebrate. Planning on making photos from that night my next picturejournal... soon as I get to the pics that is. Ive been spending some time with John, catching up and having our normal interesting conversations. Its good to see him, good for him to be here.

2. John being home actually directly relates to this next thought. Since hes been home, weve gone to Borders a couple times to get some lattes, look at some books and sit and chat. Last night was the 2nd time wed gone out there, mainly cause Johns trying to work through some ideas for redesigning his own site. While we were there, we of course grabbed some lattes to accompany our discussion and I tried a new one they had on the board. Its called a White Valencia Latte.

See I have this thing for white chocolate, I love the shit. Thats what originally cauight my attention about this latte... the valencia part was also interesting. It was making reference to valencia oranges... so this latte was a white chocolate/valencia orange latte; and it was pretty fucking good. I had to try it, I just had to... the little voice in my head said I had to.

See why Im so irritated about forgetting what else I had to say. Although John coming home is a big deal... Id hoped to have something else more important than a latte to talk about. Of course thats what I get for not posting when I think of stuff to say... and not trying to cram it at he last minute.

Someday I'll learn.

Ah well... everyone have a nice + safe holiday!

Futuristic weather patterns

Every morning on my way to work, I listen to the syndicated Bob & Tom Show through one of our local stations. Normally between show breaks on B&T, a local DJ will chime in with their own self-promotion and give the weather forecast for today.

I dont remember the beginning parts of the forecast, mainly cause I ignore it anyway... but what caught my attention after I think he mentioned it being cold and wet, was I could swear I heard him say there was a slight chance of lasers in the afternoon.

Lasers? I dont wanna know who we pissed off to have a slight chance of lasers this afternoon?!
