I washed my CF card but it feels fine

To my delight, when I got home Sat afternoon from "painting a penguin" (more on that later)... as I was walking through the hallway after coming back downstairs from my room, I happened to notice a cardboard box sitting on the floor. As I read the return label on the box, a big smile came over my face... MY CAMERA WAS FINALLY BACK!

After a little more than a week shy of two months, my camera was finally back. It took the place I sent it too a little under a month to just get me the estimate... because they were "waiting for information" from Nikon to be able to send it to me. I can understand if they needed that info to get me the estimate... but it wasnt any less frustrating waiting that long.

After sending them the check for the repairs, after two more weeks and just a little more frustration... I called to ask about my camera, to which they replied they were "waiting for a part." More waiting? Its not like I didnt know they were at the mercy of circumstance, waiting for information and parts... kinda similar to blaming the waitress/waiter for your bad food when they had nothing to do with it; but like I said, it isnt any less frustrating.

So, its finally back... and I am happy. I was gonna take a pic and share it with you, the first pic taken since its return... but Ive been to busy [obscure Loony Tunes reference] hugging it and stroking it and naming it George [/obscure Looney Tunes reference].

Having my camera back though, reminded me that I accidentally washed my Compact Flash card a couple weeks back.

I usually do my laundry every week, sometimes every two... I dont want my mommy to do it cause shes done enough of that when I actually lived here, and its not fair to her since Im just passing through.

I usually wash my regular clothes first (jeans, khakis, shirts, etc) and then my unmentionables after that. After running my first set through the washer and dryer, there I was folding a pair of my pants when I heard something hit the floor. Looking down I saw it, the CF card from my camera! First thought: AWWW SHIT! second thought: AWWW FUCK! third thought: I wonder if it actually came through ok? Problem was, I didnt have a camera to test it in... so Ive been sitting here (cause Id always forget to take it to work) waiting for my camera so I could test my CF card, and see if it was alright.

It ended coming out just fine, was so surprised to see all the photos that were on it before I sent my camera out, were still on it.

Happy day.

The wait is over

Well, everything is finally back up and running... with a little less headache than I originally thought it might take.

Recently, as the little page I put up said, I decided to change my hosting company... well actually, I can for certain call it an upgrade to my hosting. Compare $17/month for 200MB of space to $10/month for 1GB of space... and its not much of a comparison. Also a good thing to have friends who use this host and have been very happy with the service... not much of a comparison and not much of a tough choice.

Ever since I started doing videos and tried to have them all up for browsing... I hit my 200MB limit not too long ago, which is why I took it all down to only show one video at a time. Now hopefully, I can start putting together the rest of this site... well that has more to do with motivation to do it, than the space I have now.

Cant complain about the upgrade though... who would?

I just bought a yellow car

Well, I am in preperations to be making payments on a yellow car (yes I said a yellow car) for the next five years. Yes, it was good while it lasted... but after a little more than 2 years of the heaven known as no car payment, 7 years total and 145,000 miles later; its time that I went for something a little newer.

Yellow Cavalier

Yellow wasnt my first choice of color, but after looking and researching (with the help of my father) for more than a week... she was the best choice I could make considering whats out there.

A yellow '03 Chevy Cavalier for what started at $9900 but I got for $8600, with only 7800 miles... power sunroof, 5-speed transmission, cd player, air conditioning (first car Ive had that it works) 2 airbags, etc etc... with the exception, though, of power windows and locks; which I dont give a shit about anyway.

The paperworks still gotta be worked out, while Im waiting for my (freelance) down payment to come in the mail... but hopefully by the end of the week, I'll be driving around in my new baby.

Being old + driving around a little ray of sunshine

Well, its been almost a week since I actually got my new(ish) car... and I still have to look out the window every now and then to believe its mine. Grown so accustomed to driving around my old car... thats its still weird to me to be driving around in something that doesnt leak water inside, has working air conditioning, doesnt creak and doesnt give me a nice massage from rattling so much on the highway.

Im still getting used to the color though. I mean, the color doesnt really bother me, as much as Im just getting used to it cause it wasnt my first choice. I got what I wanted in the car and the payment for it... so getting used to the color isnt nearly as hard as I might be making it seem. I just like making things difficult on myself, or not as easy as they should be for some reason.

Definitely feels good to be driving something new(er). One of the reason I started looking and eventually bought something now... was because I was actually embarassed to invite a female companion to ride in my old car. Wasnt messy inside, but her being an 11 yr old car... there was a hole on the inside of my drivers side door that, when it rained, leaked all over the inside carepeting of the car. So that meant, in the summer it would dry out and smell like a warm, wet dog... and in the winter, there wasnt a time when my cars floor wasnt actually frozen.

So all in all, a good decision. My little ray of sunshine. Ugh, does that sound "Lifetime: Television for Women" Movie of the Week or what?

Also, before I go... just how old do you have to feel when a song you knew in your teenage youth comes onto the local "classic rock" radio station. Prolly just as old as the weird feeling hearing "Welcome to the Jungle" by Guns N' Roses on that same "classic" radio station not too long ago. Ugh.
