The incredible shrinking J

Ive been feeling pretty good lately since, as of this morning (when I checked last), Ive lost a total of about 30 lbs. It feels good, I must say. I was pretty down a few months back... having totalled out at about 230 lbs; of course from doing not only a little too much eating, but not being active much. That all changed when I started mountain biking in the woods behind my parents house with a little more frequency than I ever did before.

Ive been mountain biking for a couple years, and although Im still a beginner at it, its one of my favorite things to do as, to me, its just a fringe benefit that its a decent form of excercise as well. Once I moved home back in mid-2003, I started going out in the woods and trying to get a rhythym down for the trails back there... as they arent specifically made for biking, and have been grooved in by all the people with their ATVs. Once I got a path down, I started going out a couple times a week... because 1) I loved doing it anyway, and 2) I was sick of sitting around like a fat turd.

Well, with all this biking... what I didnt realize was that it finally working. I was getting ready for work one morning, and when I put a pair of my pants on... I first thought I hadnt washed them yet, cause they werent as snug as they usually were. Then I remembered I did my laundry the night before... and it popped into my head, "Holy shit, have I lost some poundage?" As it turned out, I had.

Once that happened, after I realized it was finally working... I made other decisions to help out the process. I havent had a can/bottle/glass of pop in at least a few months and drink almost nothing but water now... as well as, not so much changing my diet (although I have altered it a bit) but just eating a little less than I did before and actually watching fat content, etc. It seems to be working beautifully.

Once the weather broke though, I couldnt do as much biking as I did before... mainly cause the grounds been almost constantly either wet and squishy, or frozen; which makes biking not as much fun (at least to me); but also cause it was getting dark at 5 now, so I couldnt go out right after work during the week. So, as a substitute for the days I couldnt bike, I started using my parents treadmill a couple times week.

Treadmill

I usually use it, at least, 3 times a week... with a little predetermined routine; a little running, a little walking, rinse and repeat. Its been like that since about the turn of the year... althought Id much rather be out biking, but its good for what I want to accomplish. That was, of course, until I broke the treadmill... yeah, thats right, I broke it. Well, I was definitely a contributing factor... the other being the treadmills actually a good number of years old.

Seems I wore it out, or burned it out to be more specific. I was doing my regular routine, and about 3/4 of the way through, the treadmill just stopped dead in its tracks. Upon further investigation... it seems I overheated the motor and it shut down. Its been the same ever since... so it seems Im too much for my parents treadmill, because it cant take my workout. Not that Im some super athlete, or much of an athlete at all actually... hell, I wish I could say I burned out the treadmill cause because of my athletic prowess, but everyone that knows me would discredit that in a heartbeat.

So, Ive been trying other things to keep this going... cause I definitely dont wanna stop at just30 lbs. I plan to take it another 30 and hit my overall goal of getting down to 170 lbs. I wont, by any means, be a rail even at 170 lbs... but I know I'll feel much better and Im sure itll help my confidence as well.

Watch out 170... cause Im coming for you.

The heart of rock n' roll

Yknow, being a bald, tattooed different kind of abrasive jackass has its benefits; or perks might be the better way to say it. For instance, whenever I ask someone to guess who my fav band of ALL time is... very rarely, if ever, have people guessed without a little help from me.

The answer to that question, might surprise you: Huey Lewis and the News. I have no idea where this post came from, but just run with it... cause its all Im writing about.

HLN

Thats right, this mostly hard rock listening bald guy couldnt be a bigger fan of that 80's pop-rock that is Huey Lewis.

I dont remember when I first heard their music, I dont know what it is that drew me to them, considering my usual listening preference, and kept me coming back for more and more... all I know is that for as long as I can remember, theres never been another band ever Ive liked more than Huey Lewis and the News.

They are who I turn to when my mood isnt the best, and embarassingly enough, there arent a lot of Huey Lewis songs I dont know the words too.

Why am I admitting this? Why am I revealing this little tidbit of otherwise useless info? Im glad you asked.

Because its been 19 fucking days since my last post, and I needed something to fill the space that would otherwise be filled with possibly less useless information, if I wasnt so fucking lazy. Thats why.
