(belated) What I did on my summer vacation
Well I actually got back from my annual family vacation a couple days ago, on Sunday... but I dont think its too late to tell you all about it anyway, cause Im gonna whether you want me to or not.
This year, me and the family went to the same place we went last year... that being Geneva-on-the-Lake, up on Lake Erie. We've rented cabins and went on these little family vacations for the past 15 years, and at least 11 out of those years have been right on the lakefront of Lake Erie. Its mostly been a relaxing, not-much-to do vacation for many years... but Geneva is a bit different, since it kinda reminds me of a local fair more than anything else; offering relaxing moments while also entertaining my niece and nephews.
This year had the same stuff as last year, with one major (and great) difference... that being the inclusion of my lovely girlfriend Jenn. I still, to this day, feel odd saying that word, girlfriend... simply because its been so foreign to me until the past almost five months. Its definitely a good feeling saying that word, but I have to admit, in a good way, Im still getting used to it.
I didnt go up to the Lake on Sunday like everyone else, as I was hoping to spend some time with my best friend (visiting from California)... but that was before he contracted chicken pox and was a little incapacitated to visit, so I went up Tuesday afternoon. Jenn joined us at the Lake later in the week, as since shes in a payroll occupation... she cant take a whole week off. I had to be a good employee anyway, and come back home for a meeting Thursday, so she and I came back up together Thursday afternoon.
We spent much of the time, just as I did the year before... eating out, drinking and visiting little gift shops and such; we played the occasional video game and even went down some cheesy water slides.
It was definitely nice to have her there... it felt so nice to walk down the midway through Geneva, with her on my arm. Those are the moments Id always wanted, and it was such a great feeling them actually happening.
This year was, most definitely, the highlight of my years doing this annual family vacation... and it honestly had everything to do with her!
