Putting the "ROCK" back in Christmas, if Christmas was spelled with ROCK in it
Long title huh? Well youre just gonna have to suffer through... cause I like it, and Im the only one with the password to change it. Nyah nyah.
Well, its been almost two months and Im finally back to share some little insights. I know its been a while, but everyone who read my post previous to this, knows its been a little tough. Things have been good, aside from the occasional crisis at work... but working in advertising as long as I have, its not that big a surprise really.
Now to the subject at hand. Recently, my local area opened its very own Convocation Center; to which a few concerts have been coming in. One such concert was a performance by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra back in mid-November. My lovely girlfriend and I were going to go, or wanted to go rather, but thought it was a little too pricy and opted to skip that show.
However, we werent too sure about that decision, hearing many many reviews of their shows... and hearing it was an excellent show. So earlier in the week, my girlfriend called me at work and asked what I was doing Saturday night (yestrerday). The question was a little odd to me, as my first thought was "I would imagine something with you." She then went on to tell me she had just bought tickets to the TSO concert, at what used to be The Gund Arena, for saturday night. I was excited and hesitant at first... since we had, although reluctantly, decided it was too pricy to go locally. I wasnt going to say anything though, simply because I really did wanna go and went with my usual "what the hell" mentality.
Sitting here now, only 16 hours removed from the show... I must say I am so glad we decided to go, and so glad my lovely girlfriend bought the tickets.
It was an awesome show, prolly one of the best shows Ive ever been to. The mixture of the music, the narration, the singing and the lights/lasers were absolutely great. Ive actually been a big fan of orchestra music with a rock twinge to it, ever since the S&M album by Metallica... but its always been tough to find music like that other than TSO, who I always thought played nothing but Christmas music. Even though the majority of what they play is exactly that, it is done in such a way that you almost dont notice. Its a perfect mix of orchestra and rock music, if you asked me... or even if you didnt ask me.
I had a wonderful time last night, and highly reccommend their show; I will be going again whenever they come either locally or to Cleveland.
