Where have all the good J's gone?
Well, since its been about a month again, I thought Id offer yet another installment of The Chronicles of J: the Girlfriend, the Excitement and the Less-Than-Stellar Internet. I should be considered to be a national treasure, since Im so goddamn clever... but Im humble, so Id pass that honor onto to someone else anyway.
Holidays were good; very nice I must say. That might have something to do with my lovely girlfriend (whos name is Jenn, for those keeping score) spending almost a grand on me this Christmas. No, that is not a typo... she spent almost $1000 on me, and although I very much enjoy what she got me; it was far too much to spend on this sarcastic, tattooed little angel.
What did I get? Im glad you asked.
I got a 60GB iPod Video (black), a flat-panel monitor, a Bluetooth headset for my stylish Razr phone, the installation to play my new iPod in my Sunshine-Mobile, a couple very nice cards from my honey, and (although we were supposed to be watching what we're eating) a stocking full of candy. I know Im forgetting something, so forgive me... but thats the highlights. The iPod video took up a good chunk of that round-$900 she spent on me, but it was still way too much and something we wont be repeating. Right honey?
I cant really say much, cause I spent just over half the amount she spent on me, to buy her some stuff. What did I get her? Im glad you asked.
I got her a diamond tennis bracelet, cause I heard she needed a new best friend and all the jewelry commercials out there made that suggestion. I also got her a featherbed, a Bluetooth headset for her stylish Razr phone, a wireless mouse and a Martini set (with a matching pitcher). Im prolly forgetting something with her stuf too, but youll just have to forgive me, just like you did with my stuff.
The holidays, even with the toys I got (and gave)... were very good. Good times spent with family, friends; and it definitely didnt hurt that I had someone special to spend it with too. I really do wish the times like what just passed, could go on for a lot longer than what they did.
But its a new year (Happy New Year, btw) and I have plenty of resolutions to ignore; even though I am gonna make a more concerted effort to follow them this time around. They are pretty much the same ones I had last year with the major two being: 1) blog/post a little more often, and 2) watch some training videos to increase my skill-set.
Ive begun, and will hopefully finish a new design for my little internet haven, which will also (hopefully) inspire me to write a little more. That redesign, and the occasional prodding from my lovely girlfriend will help too. So, keep 'em coming baby!
As far as the training videos; I noticed my career-related technology passing me by a little more than I did before, and I am determined to learn what I think I need to know to make myself more marketable someday. Its never gonna happen if I keep sitting on my hands... so its time for some action. Im hoping Im not gonna be the lazy slob I have been for a while now.
And besides all this, I am going to enjoy the time I have with my girlfriend, my friends and my family. Speaking of my lovely girlfriend... shes made quite an impact on me, a damn good one. There were certainly times, before I met her, that I wouldnt know the kind of happiness I know now. Shes a perfect fit to the puzzle that goes along with my friends and family, and a welcome fit too.
Less stress and more enjoyment is my motto this year. Which means, I should prolly get out of the advertising business sometime soon.
